A Video Introduction to Our 2023 Non-Profits

As we mentioned, we have selected our 3 non-profit organizations for 2023 – Here is an initial hello from each of them.
Still working on the “Sizzle Reels“.

What are your thoughts? Who is going to be your favorite?

If you haven’t purchased your tickets yet – Get ’em now – and join us for what will be a super-fun event.

A quick recap, our “contestants” this year are:

Mom’s Against Poverty

Help fight global childhood poverty by providing Education, Hunger Relief, Orphan Care, and Health Care.

Fighting child poverty globally is a colossal undertaking but if we work together we can make a difference. We are dedicated to empowering children with the tools they need to thrive. Most of all we aim to bring them something that can’t be measured: HOPE!

Family Connections

Thriving kids. Thriving families.

We empower under-served families in San Mateo County with children from birth and beyond by providing free, high-quality early learning programs linked with wrap around services that propel our families – and our whole community – forward.

Medical Equipment Loan Project

We Loan Free Medical Equipment Primarily in San Mateo County

The Medical Equipment Loan Project (“MELP”) recycles used durable medical equipment, such as wheelchairs, rollators, walkers, and similar items, loaning them at no cost to individuals who cannot afford or otherwise have access to them. Equipment donated to our program is inspected, sanitized, and inventoried before it is made available to future users. Although it is made available at no cost, donations of any amount are appreciated.

Last Call for Non-Profits! – 2023

Time is almost up! We have received a number of applications but there is still time for your favorite to apply!

Don’t delay, applications close on January 31st

At this fun, annual event, you will give a 10-minute presentation about your organization and project with the objective to receive the most votes.  After the three selected organizations have presented, attendees will then vote on their favorite presentation. First place receives 50% of the proceeds from the event, 2nd place receives 25%, and 3rd place receives 15%. Rotary Club of Peninsula Starlight Foundation will retain 10% of the proceeds.

Organizations are to use the funding they receive for a specific project, not general funds. Up to 10% of the funds can be used for overhead. Applications must be supported by a member of a Northern California Rotary Club. International projects must also be associated with a Northern California non-profit organization and a Rotary Club in the country of service.  Completing this application does not guarantee funding. We expect to have more applications than spots available for presenting at the event.  We look forward to learning about your organization and impactful work.

The application will be evaluated for its potential to meet as many of the following criteria as possible:

  1. Be technically and economically feasible.
  2. Address community needs.
  3. Foster self-sufficiency.
  4. Demonstrate environmental sensitivity
  5. Promote social and gender equity.
  6. Fit within Rotary areas of focus
